A Talk With Dr. Nancy Baym

Dr. Nancy Baym is a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research New England and a co-founder of AoIR. Her work examines how people build relationships and communities through digital media, with particular attention to music fans and the musicians who engage them online. She is the author of Personal Connections in the Digital Age and Playing to the Millions, and her research has appeared in outlets ranging from academic journals to mainstream press. She previously held a faculty position at the University of Kansas.The lecture will be 30 minutes long with 30 minutes Q&A and input from the audience. The future of this series depends on the engagement with the AoIR membership. Since this is the very first installment of the series, we would really like active participation and feedback from members to help us shape the direction of AoIR together.
